Sean Murphy
Practice Owner
Sean qualified from Dundee University in 1986 and has worked at 147 Bruntsfield Place since 1992.
Sean is proud that he carried on the family tradition and followed his grandfather into the dental profession.
Sean enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is committed to helping his patients maintain a healthy dentition from cradle to grave. He enjoys keeping abreast with the latest techniques and equipment and incorporating them in his practice.
In his spare time Sean is a committed curler and still plays competitively. He is also heavily involved with the management of the sport in Edinburgh. During the summer, if time allows, he enjoys a round of golf.
Jennifer Tait
Clinical Manager
Jen is our Clinical Manager and a qualified dental nurse. She has been with the practice for 24 years.
In her spare time Jen likes to upcycle old furniture and loves spending time with her family, especially her 2 small grandsons.
Gillian McNeill
Business Manager
Gillian is our Business Manager and has worked at the practice for over 2 years. She splits her time between working in reception and business development.
In her spare time she enjoys playing tennis, running and Pilates, going on holiday with her husband and spending time with her 3 grown up children.

Nikos Mitropolous
Dentist
Nikos graduated from the Dental School of Athens University in 2006, where he practiced dentistry for five years. In 2011, he relocated to Scotland, gaining experience in various dental practices before joining Sean Murphy Dental in 2015.
As a general dentist with a an interest in endodontics—the branch of dentistry focused on diagnosing and treating issues related to the dental pulp and performing root canal treatments— Nikos is known for his quick, efficient, and empathetic approach to patient care. He recently expanded his expertise to include clear aligners for minor orthodontic issues and offers consultations, as well as implant solutions to enhance patients' smiles.
Outside of dentistry, Nikos enjoys playing the piano as a hobby and is a dedicated gym-goer, balancing his professional life with his interests in music and fitness.
Emma Mossop
Dentist
Emma joined the practice in the summer of 2023, after working at another practice in Edinburgh for 18 years.
Emma qualified from Newcastle Dental School in 2000, and worked in the North East of England for a few years before moving to Edinburgh in 2004.
Emma enjoys all aspects of general dental practice. She also provides wrinkle reducing treatments and orthodontic clear aligners.
Outside of dentistry Emma can be found taxiing her children to their various clubs.
She loves nothing more than a good read or a long walk.
Jimena Vallina Cuesta
Dentist
Jimena graduated from the University of Oviedo, Spain in 2018 and gained valuable experience practicing in Turkey for 1 year and then Zaragoza (Spain) for 2 years.
In 2022 she relocated to Scotland to further her career. Dr. Vallina is committed to addressing her patients' concerns, alleviating pain, boosting confidence, and helping them overcome their fear of dental visits.
emphasizes the importance of educating her patients about maintaining a healthy smile for life, empowering them to take an active role in their treatment decisions.
Outside of dentistry, Jimena enjoys exploring arts in all forms, from reading and playing music to attending events that spark creativity. Whether she is learning something new or simply enjoying a fun evening of dancing, she values experiences that inspire and connect.
